Season's Greetings

By Charles Stookey
Dashboard Editor

Let me take this opportunity to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a joyous New Year.

As the millennium draws to a close (yes I know that's up for debate but what the heck) I find myself thankful for all the friendship this club has brought me.

Marilyn and I have been COCCC members since the "Run of '89" car show that was presented at the old drag strip on the state fairgrounds. Can it really be ten years?

We had restored our '55 in 1985 for our 20-year high school reunion but were told by a "friend" that the Chevy Club was "just a bunch of snobs." Thanks to his negativity we didn't make a move to join any club for a few years. Boy was he ever wrong. We have always met nice people in this club and took forward to many more years of active membership. By the way, we haven't seen that guy for several years now.

Since we joined I have been the newsletter editor for all but about an year and a half and Marilyn has served stints as secretary and president. Believe me, these jobs have been rewarding and I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. Many things have happened over the ten years of our membership. We watched the Bricktown show wax and wane and wax again. It looks like this year's event will be a real eye opener for Oklahoma City. Let's all work together to make it the success it deserves to be.

We have seen members come and members go. Throughout it all there has been a core membership that stands rock steady at the foundation of the club. You know who you are. Accept my congratulations for a fine job.

Let's all enter the 21st century with a resolution to improve our lives, make new friends, do the best in all for which we strive and above all, be happy.
